Andrel Andrew is the first Dominican National Brand Ambassador for the House of Angostura Rum, which is locally distributed by Fine Foods Inc.

He joined the ranks of National Brand ambassadors with twelve (12) others from USA, Mexico, Antigua, Brazil, St. Maarten, Trinidad, Barbados, Grenada and Brazil. The event took place in Trinidad, at the House of Angostura the Brand Ambassadors conference from April 27^th to 29^th 2016. The ambassadors acquired new skills on selling techniques and mastering the art of mixing angostura’s rums to include White Oak, Single Barrel Reserve Rum and 1919 label.

In the past decade, Angostura’s rums have won gold medals at many international competitions and have been named ‘the world’s most awarded rum range’ by the Rum Masters.

Andrel is excited about his designation: “I’m most excited about working with Fine Foods Inc on educating others on mixology, and increasing understanding of Angostura’s rums and bitters.”

Andrel Andrew is from Goodwill, Dominica.  He started his bartending career at Garraway Hotel in 2001. In 2004 he moved to London where he worked part time at Cottons Rhum Shack while attending school. His knowledge on Rums and spirits grew while he was trained and mentored about mixology by Mr. Ian Burrell, the Rum Ambassador of the UK. Within 3 years Andrel became the Head bartender at Cottons.

He later went on to work at Empire Casino in Leicester Square London where he trained on a 30 day Mixology Course under the London Clubs International. He then became a Certified Mixologist and was ranked the best among 21 bartenders in training. He went on to compete in the Finlandia World Cocktail Champion Competition where he placed second. He is a Co-owner of the Iron Monkey Bar located downstairs the Sutton Place Hotel in Roseau.

Andrel has a passion for what he does claiming, “it’s the most fun job!” With time and dedication he believes he can help make Dominicans appreciate the art of Mixology.
